On April 19, 2017, Tsinghua SEM was officially notified by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) that, the Peer Review Team's recommendation for extension of business accreditation of Tsinghua SEM has been concurred with by the Continuous Improvement Review Committee and ratified by the Board of Directors of AACSB International. Tsinghua SEM has thus successfully obtained an extension of its AACSB Business accreditation from 2017 to 2022. Tsinghua SEM was the first business school on the Chinese Mainland to attain AACSB accreditation in April 2007 and has successfully maintained this label in 2012 and 2017 respectively.

The maintenance report for business accreditation was submitted in November 2016 by Tsinghua SEM to AACSB. From January 8 to 10, 2017, the peer review team for continuous improvement of AACSB business accreditation visited the school. During the visit, Professor YANG Bin, Provost and Vice President of Tsinghua University, met with experts from the review team which is composed of 3 deans from oversea business schools, Professor William H. Glick, former Dean of the business school, Rice University, U.S., Professor Alan T. Shao, Dean of the business school, College of Charleston, U.S., Professor Tong Suk Kim, Dean of the business school, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea, etc.. Professor YANG Bin introduced the reform measures Tsinghua University and SEM has taken in recent years andhis understanding about the importance of international accreditation. Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM, talked about major national policy changes in education during past years, the development the school experiences and challenges it faces under current policy environment, and he also shared his strategies and insights about management education and further development of Tsinghua SEM. During the peer review, 19 meetings were held between the review team and relevant stakeholders such as the Dean’s Council, representatives of faculty and staff, students, alumni, employers, etc.. Through talks with different parties, the peer review team get a comprehensive understanding about the Tsinghua SEM’s overall operation and quality improvement in recent years. The peer review team at last give a very high appraisal for Tsinghua SEM’s achievements and also put forward valuable suggestions for the school. It is believed that these suggestions would facilitate sustained development of the school in the future significantly.

As a leader and pioneer in the management education in China, Tsinghua SEM was first accredited by AACSB for business school in April 2007, impressing the domestic management education intensively and achieving a high level of influence and exposure in global management education circle. It is the belief of Tsinghua SEM that the maintenance of the AACSB accreditation and the international benchmarking for its sustainability will certainly help the school continuously enhance its level of management and standardization and facilitate its all-round, balanced and rapid development. Tsinghua SEM is bound to expand its international reputation and influence and maintain its domestic leading position, as well as to develop into a world-class school of economics and management.
