On January 17, 2017, the Tsinghua-INSEAD Dual Degree Executive MBA Program (TIEMBA) Class 2017 Commencement was held in Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM). Professor GAO Jian, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Professor Peyer Urs, Dean of Degree Programs, INSEAD, 39 graduates from 15 countries and their families attended the commencement.

In the remarks of Professor GAO Jian, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, he congratulated TIEMBA Class 2017 graduates on successfully completing their 18 months of studying, thanked their families and friends for supporting them, and expressed congratulations to 9 graduates with excellent academic performance particularly. He said that TIEMBA was a platform for life-long learning and called upon graduates to gain a great life with “TIEMBA spirit”.

After that, Professor Peyer Urs, Dean of Degree Program, INSEAD, delivered a speech. He congratulated everyone on graduating from TIEMBA and interpreted the value of this degree from the perspective of a finance professor. He emphasized the importance of strategic investment and networking, and suggested every graduate make great decisions, help others and realize personal values in an increasingly integrated world.

Mr. Fong Jek Gan from Singapore, representative of TIEMBA Class 2013, shared his TIEMBA experience and gave graduates three key suggestions: being authentic, being brave and impacting people around. Then Mr. Javier Cuant Tamarit from Spain, representative of TIEMBA Class 2014, shared two most important lessons he learned from TIEMBA: plan and people. He suggested being flexible about plans, but being stubborn about purposes, and helping each other achieve true happiness.

After inspiring speeches, Certificate Awarding began with each graduate going to the podium and took the certificate. Dr. WANG Yong, Assistant Dean, Director of EMBA Programs and Director of Executive Education of Tsinghua SEM, issued certificates to the winners of Outstanding Graduates and the Outstanding Thesis Award.

After the commencement, all graduates gathered on the stage and performed a song calledWe are the World. They expressed their thankfulness to this journey and infinite hope for the future. Finally, a memory video of TIEMBA Class 2017 was shown, which brought back all detailed memories of the last 18 months to this warm hall.
