In his address, Professor QIAN expects the students to adjust their ways of learning as they embark on their college life.  “I believe all of you were good students in high school, by which I mean you learned well by doing exams well.  But in college, being keen on learning is more important than just learning well,” he said.  “Learning well is only about acquiring existing knowledge, but being keen on learning is about exploring new problems, the former is about getting answers right while the latter is about seeking for truth”, he further elaborated on the differences between the two concepts.
