University is experiencing significant challenges from globalization, the innovation of information technologies as well as the changes of learning patterns and social growth. Yet Challenge is also an opportunity, an opportunity to be a global leading university. For that, Tsinghua has begun a new period in her new century with an overall development strategy. The key words are innovation and reform for quality, an innovation for developing a model to better integrate the needs of national strategy and the mission of being a world leading university, a reform that involves the core parts of a university, how we recruit and inspire our faculty members and how we better cultivate our talented students for their future.
