Acting Dean Peter Zemsky from INSEAD also delivered a speech afterwards. On behalf of INSEAD, he welcomed the sixth cohort of TIEMBA students. He said: "INSEAD was founded in 1957. After the Second World War, Europe was in ruins. Two French professors teaching in Harvard believed, the rejuvenation of Europe required a group of qualified managers and entrepreneurs, so they started to found the business school.INSEAD is a business school with very good reputation in Europe, and has become the leader in the continent. Though it is around 50 years younger than most of the big US business schools, it sets its goal to be the world leader and it has three characteristics: first, diversity. The school was first founded in France, but now it attracts students from Germany, France, England and other countries around the world. Second, intensity, in this program, students will get double degrees from Tsinghua and INSEAD. Third, relevance, INSEAD is an independent business school with the character of high concentration and relevance. The cooperation with Tsinghua on the TIEMBA program is very important. Now INSEAD has partners in two regions. In the US, INSEAD cooperates with Wharton Business School in Philadelphia and San Francisco, forming an international knowledge and learning network; in China, it cooperates with Tsinghua University on the TIEMBA program, and Tsinghua will be the strategic center of INSEAD in Asia."
