Professor McFarlan’s first term of office at CBCC began in 2009. Since then, he has made tremendous contributions to the promotion of Tsinghua business cases worldwide, and to the business case education at SEM. In 2011, CBCC launched a strategic partnership with Harvard Business School Publishing (HBSP) to promote Chinese business cases globally. Tsinghua SEM is the first business school on the Chinese mainland that has reached a cooperative agreement with HBSP and has its cases released online through HBSP’s website. In the past two years, HBSP has included into Harvard case materials 13 cases submitted by CBCC. In addition, each year a Tsinghua SEM-McFarlan Case Teaching Workshop is held, with Professor McFarlan using HBS’s methods of case teaching to promote business case education at SEM.
