The Distinguished Speaker Forum on Finance series was launched at Tsinghua SEM. The forum series invites leading scholars, officials, and business figures to speak at the School. The speakers are expected to share their research results, operational experience and policy analysis with the audience.
The inaugural speaker of the forum is ZHOU Xiaochuan, Governor of People’s Bank of China, a member of the School’s Advisory Board. The theme of his speech was “Urbanization and Relevant Financial Development.”

ZHOU Xiaochuan is also an Adjunct Professor and Ph. D. supervisor at SEM.
In the speech, ZHOU Xiaiochuan started with explaining urbanization and other related concepts. He then continued to analyze problems and challenging issues in terms of the financing of urbanization.

Dean QIAN Yingyi of SEM made an opening address for the forum series. He reviewed the history of the Department of Finance, finance as an undergraduate major, as well as the establishment of the China Center for Financial Research. He also revealed that the School plans to offer a financial master’s program for high-level specialists in the finance sector.
