About 100 alumni of the International Program of SEM Executive Education returned to Tsinghua SEM on April 21-22, 2011 to reunite with their instructors and classmates, and to celebrate the centenary of Tsinghua University.

Professor YANG Bin, Senior Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Director of Tsinghua Center for Leadership Development and Research, and Joint Academic Director of Tsinghua-CEIBS-Harvard cooperation SEPC (senior manager of course) project, shared his brand new research: “The Successful Gene of Leading Chinese Enterprises” with the alumni on the afternoon of April 21, 2011. His lecture incorporated theory and real cases and thoroughly analyzed the successful factors of leading Chinese enterprises. After his lecture, alumni shared their own experiences with Professor YANG Bin and gave a high appraise of his lecture.

In the evening, the alumni drove to the Shunjing Hot Spring Hotel to participate in the grand welcome dinner there. ZHU Xueqin, Professor at the Department of History, Shanghai University was invited to give a speech named “30 Years of Reform and Opening up.” With unique historic perspective and broad mindset, his speech won great applause.

Alumni participated in two forums on the morning of April 22, 2011 at the hotel. The host of The Sound Economic of China National Radio YANG Xi hosted the first forum with the theme of “Chinese Elements of Leadership.” CHEN Shigang, President of China Electronics the Fourth Co., LI Zhao, Senior Vice President of Belle International Holdings, WU Man, Managing Director of Beijing Cloud Valley, and YU Zhonghua, Managing Director of Research Institute of Everbright Securities Co., shared their viewpoints on “Chinese Elements of Leadership.”

The participants of the second forum discussed the topic “How Private Equity Promotes the Development of Chinese Private Enterprises.” SUN Yong, President of Huafu Capital (Hong Kong) Investment, LIU Li, Capital Partner of Ashmore Investment Management, ZHANG Yang, CEO of Tsinghua Holdings Industry Investment Fund, and PENG Xiaohua, General Manager of Henan Senyuan Electric Co., attended the second forum.

Both forums aroused active interaction and communication of alumni. They shared real cases with the guest speakers and learned from each other.

On the afternoon of April 22, 2011, Professor YANG Baiyin, Chair of the Department of Human Resources and Organizational Behavior of Tsinghua SEM, gave a specific coach lecture “New Elements of Leadership.” It is the new research of Professor YANG Baiyin, and it is also the first time that he taught this topic in public. The alumni responded professor’s lecture actively and discussed the topic with their own experiences in the coach leadership.

The one-and-a-half-day alumni reunion activity finished successfully after the lecture. Alumni felt very good of this activity and expected next reunion to be held soon.

The International Program of Executive Education has been developed and delivered through many years of close collaboration with various international executive programs. In 2006, “Tsinghua-CEIBS-Harvard Senior Executive Program” was initiated. In the same year, the “Advanced Management Program in Fashion and Luxury” was developed and launched in cooperation with HEC Paris and IFM France. In 2008, International Program worked together with Harvard Business School in developing a program on “Private Equity and Venture Capital.” Many other international programs also held successfully during recent years.
