A shot from the Shenzhen Alumni Day
Dean QIAN Yingyi opened the event with a report of the achievements of the School in 2010: the Advisory Board meeting, the Tsinghua Management Global Forum, faculty development, program enrollment, international cooperation projects, leading educational reforms, various student activities, and the innovative IT strategy.
Dean QIAN Yingyi repporting for alumni
This event is the third Alumni Day of SEM, held after the Yangtze Delta Alumni Day in October 2010 and the Beijing Alumni Day in January 2011. According to Dean QIAN Yingyi, the School plans to organize regular alumni reunions in different regions in China and even around the globe, updating alumni with information of SEM. He encouraged all alumni to continue their support for the School by contributing wisdom and resources.
Dean QIAN Yingyi put a special stress on the history of SEM, recalling founding Dean ZHU Rongji’s expectation that the School should become the undisputable no.1 among all business schools in China. The leading reforms SEM has made along the years have won wide recognition, and generally supported by its alumni. In 2011, under the occasion of Tsinghua University’s centennial and the 85th anniversary of Tsinghua’s Economics Department, the School will carry out strategies for further improvement.
Alumni panel discussions
After the Dean’s speech, two themed panel discussions were hosted by Associate Dean BAI Chong-en and Associate Dean ZHU Yan respectively. Participating alumni talked about “Economic Prospects of the Pearl Delta and SAR” and “China: Turning from Manufacture to Creation.”
During the Alumni Day, new contacts were made and old friendship was refreshed. After the event, participants said that alumni event on such a scale had been quite rare in Shenzhen. They felt proud for SEM, and were willing to contribute to the School’s upcoming plans.
