Four Aviation Companies in China were praised by Civil Aviation Administration of China for their contribution to the evacuation project that flies Chinese citizens back to China from Libya. On the commendation meeting, five representatives from the four companies talked about their experience in the evacuation project. Three among them are EMBA alumni of SEM.
They are: XU Chuanyu, Vice President of Air China (a 2008 EMBA alumnus), ZHANG Zhengrong, Chief Pilot of China Southern Airlines (a 2007 EMBA alumnus), and WAN Xiangdong, Chief Pilot of China Eastern Airlines (a 2008 EMBA alumnus).
From late February to early March, in the evacuation project, Air China, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines flied 8,754, 6,722, and 6,674 Chinese citizens back to China respectively from Libya, Tunis, Greece, Egypt, UAE and other regions.
In order to ease the tension among passengers with the comfort of homecoming, Air China decorated the cabin with welcome banners and national flags. They also wrote special content for broadcasting.
“During the project we called a dozen of emergency meetings to solve upcoming difficulties. We reacted immediately and successfully and dealt with twelve changes in the target locations of evacuation, quickly adapting to new air routes to guarantee the outcome,” said WAN Xiangdong.
ZHANG Zhengrong said: “Everytime we see the joy and excitement of our passengers, we feel truly proud for the company and the whole aviation industry in China.”
