SEM Hosts First Regional Alumni Day

A “2010 Yangtze River Delta Alumni Day” was held in Shanghai. Present at the event were the administrative team of Tsinghua SEM, 350 alumni and other guests.

After this first alumni day event on the regional level, the School will continue to host regional alumni events on a regular basis.

During the event, Dean QIAN Yingyi reviewed the success of the 2010 Tsinghua Global Management Forum, and the Vice Premier of the State Council LI Keqiang’s meeting with the members of SEM Advisory Board upon its eleventh annual meeting.

Dean QIAN Yingyi also made a report of the development of the School. He introduced about the faculty, staff and student composition of the School, and the excellent enrolment record in 2010. He also updated participating alumni about the advancement of international collaborations, educational reforms, student activities, as well as the IT project of the School.

According to Dean QIAN Yingyi, alumni have always been making significant contributions to the development of the School. He welcomed all alumni to continue their support for SEM, sharing wisdom by delivering speeches, taking lecturer or supervisor roles at SEM, and joining program projects that allow intensive communication between alumni and current students. Besides, he suggests that alumni may also provide intern or job opportunities for students, as well as contribute resources to the School.

Upon the 100th anniversary of Tsinghua University and 85th anniversary of the Tsinghua Department of Economics (the predecessor of SEM), said Dean QIAN Yingyi, the School will continue its efforts to strive for a better future that every alumnus can be proud to be a part.

During the event, alumni guests and scholars also held two panel discussions around two topics: “Sustainable Economic Growth and Financial System Development” and “The Innovative Trends in Industrial Transitions”.

This is also the first time that all twelve members of the School’s administrative team participate jointly in an alumni event.
