A 2010 MBA Capital and Innovation Forum was held by the MBA Program as part of the MBA orientation events.
Professor GAO Xudong, Director of the MBA Program and a number of entrepreneurs participated in the forum. Professor ZHANG Wei of the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship hosted the event.
Professor GAO Xudong welcomed the guest, sharing with them his own understanding of innovation. The history of Chinese economic development has witnessed the difficulties of direct introduction of foreign business modes, while the companies with constant inspirations and self-motivated innovation are standing up to international competition after decades of development. “The most effective way to inspire innovation,” said Professor GAO Xudong, “is to talk with truly innovative people and learn from them.”
Professor ZHANG Wei also talked on the forum. According to him, innovation is always seen in entrepreneurship nowadays, and the advancement of Chinese capital market has been boosting innovations. He discussed the cases of GOME and IDALL, analyzing the motives of innovative enterprises’ growth.
RU Linqi, Managing Partner of KPCB China, shared with the audience her career experience over twenty years and introduced the history of innovation investment in the U.S. What investors should look for in a new enterprise, she said, should be novel business modes or technologies.
TANG Ning, CEO of CreditEase, spoke about the market opportunities innovations could bring for the business.
At the end of the forum, a roundtable discussion was held for professors, entrepreneurs, as well as students to talk over further issues concerning investment and innovation.
