A conference on planning theories was co-held by Tsinghua University and China Development Bank (CDB) at SEM during November 13-14, 2010.
The conference was hosted by the Tsinghua-CDB Research Institute, a collaborative institution that focuses on the research on strategic planning as well as broader economic and financial issues.
Dean QIAN Yingyi hosting the opening ceremony
More than 140 representatives from Tsinghua University, CDB, and other planning research institutions were present at the conference. The opening ceremony was led by Dean QIAN Yingyi of Tsinghua SEM. Vice President of CDB LI Jiping and Tsinghua University’s Vice President XIE Weihe both delivered opening speeches.
Academician WU Liangyong delivering opening report
Professor WU Liangyong, Academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, senior expert in the area of planning studies, gave an opening report that explained the philosophy of planning, and elaborated on the importance of strategic planning. He also made a summary of the theories and practice of China’s city development planning.
The conference received over 280 essays and more than 100 were selected. Three experts delivered themed reports. Participants also held group discussions under various topics.
