Tsinghua SEM and Flextronics signed an agreement of strategic collaboration in Shenzhen, China.

Flextronics is a globally leading Electronics Manufacturing Services provider. It offers design, engineering and manufacturing options to a wide range of industries.

Present at the signing ceremony were Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of SEM, and Michael McNamara, CEO of Flextronics International, also a member of Tsinghua SEM’s Advisory Board.

After the signing of the agreement there was a conference held by Flextronics. It focuses on the discussion of corporate social/environment responsibility, and drew together more than 300 IT professionals.

Dean QIAN Yingyi delivered a speech on the conference, explaining the challenges and motives concerning corporate social responsibility in China. He also introduced the cooperation scheme of Flextronics with SEM. According to him, Flextronics will donate 1,000,000 dollars research funding to the School on a continuing base, and will partner with SEM’s Center for Leadership Development and Research in corporate social/environment responsibility projects.

“Corporate leaders have to fully understand issues that deeply influence the sustainable development of our society,” said Michael McNamara. “We shall offer financial support for the collaborative corporate social/environment responsibility projects of SEM, as well as its course development and teaching in newly-defined social, ethical and environmental issues. ”
