Tsinghua SEM’s Professor WU Dong, Director of the Research Center for Public Assets, was selected as a council member of the World Association for Political Economy (WAPE) at the association’s 5thInternational Forum at the International College of Renmin University (Suzhou).
WAPE is an international academic association founded on non-profit and voluntary basis. The standing body of WAPE is composed of the council, secretariat, an academic committee and an advisory committee.
In the association reelection, LIU Zhen, a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Economics of SEM, was also named as an academic committee member of WAPE. He is the youngest among all council and committee members.
The 5thforum, themed “The Crisis of Capitalism and its Solution: Socialism of the 21st Century,” drew together around 200 scholars from more than 20 countries, including China, US, Japan, French, Germany and the UK. It aims to observe and analyze world economy within the frame of Marxist political economics, and discuss policies that would promote socio-economic progress globally.
