HONG Jing, a Principal at the global growth equity firm General Atlantic (GA), delivered a speech named “Private Equity Funds and Leadership” at the first Financial Leadership Forum of SEM.
The Financial Leadership forum was conducted by SEM’s Center for Leadership Development and Research. It is defined as a series of lectures given by outstanding SEM alumni in the financial industry of China. The forum is supported by the Polaris Financial Group.
BAI Wenren, Vice President of the Polaris Financial Group gave a speech at the first forum, which was moderated by Professor YANG Bin, Senior Associate Dean of SEM, Director of the Center for Leadership Development and Research.

HONG Jing, the keynote speaker of the first forum, received her B.S in Finance and a master’s degree in SEM before attaining an MBA from Harvard Business School. Prior to coming to GA, she used to work at Warburg Pincus and San Shan Capital Partners. Previously, she served as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company.
In the speech, HONG Jing made an introduction of private equity funds in China and analyzed its social values. A good private equity fund, according to her, should cherish the creation of real values, for example, financing small enterprises with reasonable business plans and development potentials.

HONG Jing also explained to the audience about the career development path in the private equity funds trade and essential leadership qualities in the financial industry.
Before the speech, HONG Jing talked with ten students in SEM’s first “honors program” for the cultivation of excellent leadership talents, and was invited to be a mentor for the program.
