On the afternoon of April 24, a scholarship named after Professor CHEN Xiaoyue was established on a memorial meeting at Tsinghua SEM.

Professor CHEN Xiaoyue was the former President of Beijing National Accounting Institute. He worked in Tsinghua SEM as Chair of the Department of Finance from 1993 to 1995, Chair of the Department of Accounting from 1995 to 1998, and Associate Dean of the School from 1993 to 2001. He was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of 2009, and passed away on March 19, 2010.

The scholarship is composed of the remaining of a fund donated by Professor CHEN Xiaoyue’s students and friends for his treatment, as well as incoming donations in the future. It was initiated under Professor CHEN Xiaoyue’s own will.

The scholarship will be awarded to undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students who excel in academic performance and personal integrity in tracks of financial affairs, accounting and finance. A committee was also established to maintain the operation of the scholarship.

Dean Professor QIAN Yingyi expressed sincere gratitude for Professor CHEN Xiaoyue’s family, students and friends. On the memorial ceremony, he conferred a commemorate medal to CHEN Meng, Professor CHEN Xiaoyue’s daughter, member of the scholarship committee.
