Tsinghua SEM’s Research Center for Healthcare Management (RCHM) held its second council meeting on April 27, 2010.

Present at the meeting were Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of SEM, Chairman of the council, Professor ZHU Yan, Associate Dean of SEM, Executive Vice Director of the Center, ZHANG Baowen, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President of Chia Tai Pharmaceutical Group, SUN Jian, President of Jiangsu Chia-tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (CTTQ), LU Songwu, General Assistant Manager of CTTQ, and ZHOU Shenglai, Vice President of Beijing Anzhen Hospital.

Professor XUE Lei, Director of RCHM presided over the meeting and briefed the council about the Center’s organizational development, public relations, ongoing projects, as well as image communication plans in 2009.

Healthcare research is still underdeveloped, said Dean QIAN Yingyi in his speech at the meeting, mainly due to a lack of researchers, for healthcare management is a grand field of study, including not only healthcare reform and policy studies, but also management research. According to Dean QIAN Yingyi, all the potentials present a good opportunity for the Center.

Professor ZHU Yan then introduced this year’s schedule of the Center. Reported 2010 plans include: a summer rural healthcare research among 2008 undergraduates, the Chinese Women Healthcare Management Program co-conducted with Yale and a healthcare management degree program co-offered with McGill.
