On the evening of May 5, 2010, a discussion session was held at Tsinghua SEM, where twelve teams presented their proposed summer research topics to the judging board.

Presented topics focus on issues concerning agriculture, countryside and farmers, including “the development of agricultural industrialization,” “changes in farmers’ income structure,” and “education investment in rural families.”

Before the discussion, the teams had received advices and assistance from SEM’s Youth League, as well as Professor LI Zinai and Professor SHI Xinzheng, in identifying and developing research issues.

The judging board, composed of professors and senior staff members of SEM, analyzed and commented on each team’s proposal. They suggest students to spend more time conducting field work in rural families, and further narrow down research topics.
