Over 200 freshmen students went to 30 odds provinces around China during the winter break and finished a collective study themed “Social Security for the Floating Population in Cities.”
Organizing a hometown-based research among freshman students during the winter break is a tradition of Tsinghua SEM’s Youth League Committee. This year, over 2,400 floating workers were interviewed by students, and thousands of questionnaires were collected.
On the afternoon of March 11, 2010, a presentation of research findings was conducted in Shunde Building, Tsinghua SEM. Associate Dean Professor ZHAO Dongqing and KONG Rui, the School’s Secretary of the Youth League, attended the event.
During the presentation, students showed their findings in various forms. They presented a rich collection of data and a vivid description of research experience.
According to Professor ZHAO Dongqing, Tsinghua SEM’s undergraduates will be involved in three research projects before graduation: a hometown-based research during the winter break of the first year, a summer social practice at the end of the first year, and a required fieldwork project at the end of the sophomore year.
