A data exchange agreement between the China Data Center (CDC) of Tsinghua University and the Center of Evaluation for Global Action (CEGA) of University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), was signed on April 9, 2010 (American time).

The agreement was signed at UC Berkeley by Professor QIAN Yingyi, Co-Director of CDC, Dean of Tsinghua SEM, and Edward Miguel, Professor of Economics and Director of CEGA.

CEGA is a multi-disciplinary research center advancing global health and development through impact evaluation and economic analysis. It has been contributing to randomized trials—and other rigorous forms of data collection and policy evaluation—in developing countries, especially in Africa. The poverty alleviation measures proposed by the Center have already seen effects in several African countries.

The agreement aims to promote cooperation and exchanges between the two centers in terms of data collection in developing countries including China, empirical studies, policy evaluation, faculty visits and training programs.
