Tsinghua SEM’s Career Development Center (CDC) has improved its service for students coming in for the spring semester.
The center began to send weekly notice to students every Monday since the end of February, 2010. The brief notice, named “CDC Weekly Express,” is designed to pass on immediate information regarding upcoming activities and quick reminders of the employment market. The first notice sent out in February, for example, included introductions of employment events in the new semester.
Meanwhile, the center has compiled an “On-campus Career Development Resource Index” during the winter break. The index is a full sorted list of career development resources available in the School’s programs, student affairs groups, CDC, and the Alumni Office as well. It is a comprehensive reminder of helpful job-hunting services within the School.
The two above moves are part of the center’s efforts to intensify its communication with students. In 2010, CDC aims to take initiatives in providing readily available information for students busy with their own studies. It will come closer to students by way of a variety of communication channels.
CDC also plans to strengthen its interaction with employers. Its future tasks will include: recommending students to employers based on their career plans; compiling existing internship information for future students; further analyzing employment statistics with the help of CDC club.
