The signing ceremony of the Undergraduate Student Exchange Agreement between Tsinghua SEM and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania was held in SEM’s Shunde Building on March 9, 2010. Professor QIAN Yingyi, Dean of Tshinghua SEM, and Professor Thomas S. Robertson, Dean of the Wharton School and Member of Tsinghua SEM's Advisory Board, jointly signed the Agreement.

The Agreement is an achievement of Tsinghua SEM’s undergraduate exchange endeavors in its cooperation with the world’s top institutions. According to the Agreement, SEM and Wharton will begin exchanging undergraduate students to study in the other school for one semester since fall 2010.
On the ceremony, Dean QIAN Yingyi welcomed guests from the Wharton School. He said, Wharton is a world-leading provider of both undergraduate and postgraduate education. Further cooperation between the two schools in a variety of areas is sincerely expected. Dean Thomas S. Robertson said, the world has become an increasingly interconnected place with heightened contacts. He is pleased that Wharton is associated with SEM, and believes that students in both schools will benefit from the program.
The ceremony was hosted by Professor HE Ping from the Department of Finance. Present at the event were a number of SEM’s undergraduates going abroad for exchange study in the fall semester. Professor YANG Bin, Senior Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Professor BAI Chong-en, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Professor ZHENG Yuhuang, Director of the Office of Communications, also attended the ceremony, as did Professor Harbir Singh, Wharton’s Vice Dean for Global Initiatives, Mr. Jeffrey Sheehan, Wharton’s Associate Dean for International Relations, Professor Eric Orts, Professor Eric Bradlow, Professor Peter Fader and Mr. Steve Ennen, Managing Director of the Wharton Interactive Media Initiative.

By now, Tsinghua SEM has signed agreements on student exchange programs with 87 overseas institutions located in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific region, all with great reputation in their respective country or region. Whether at Tsinghua or at overseas cooperative institutions, the School endeavors to provide diversified international study environments and experience for students, which creates an advantageous condition in their further study or in the future global career competition.
In 2009, the School has sent more than 250 exchange students to different overseas institutions. And it is worth mentioning that over 50% of the undergraduate students have the opportunity for exchange study. Internationalization has now become one of the feature advantages of Tsinghua SEM undergraduate education.
