On March 5, 2010, 52 participants of the first Chinese Women Healthcare Management Program graduated after spending four months studying in Tsinghua SEM.
Launched as part of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women initiative in April 2009, the Program is co-held by Tsinghua SEM and the School of Public Health at Yale University. It is the only training program in healthcare management in China, aiming to provide high-level knowledge education, skill training and networking opportunity for female healthcare managers and senior staff in China’s rural areas. Graduates are expected to take effective leads in promoting the efficiency and sustainable development of China’s healthcare system. The Program will ultimately train 500 participants over the next five years.
The first 52 graduates come from fourteen provinces and municipalities, including Beijing. Most of them are directors or vice directors in second-class hospitals and community healthcare centers.
The Program has been taught by professors from Tsinghua and Yale, covering healthcare system reform, healthcare economics, quality improvement, human resources management and financial management.
“It is a fantastic experience to launch this Program with Yale and Goldman Sachs,” said Professor XUE Lei, Director of Tsinghua SEM EDP Center, “We are honored to take part and help females in China’s healthcare sector. I hope that the curriculum we designed could boost their success in career.”
