Chen Yuan, Chairman of Board of Directors of China Development Bank (CDB) has paid a visit to Tsinghua SEM on May 27 and delivered a speech about the planning of scientific development. Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM hosted the speech.

On the same day, Xie Weihe, Vice President of Tsinghua University announced decision of the establishment of Tsinghua University-CDB Planning Research Institution. Dean Qian Yingyi made a report concerning the preparing process of the establishment of the Tsinghua University-CDB Planning Research Institution. Chen Yuan serves as the director of the council of the institution.

Chen Yuan currently serves as CDB Chairman of Board of Directors as well as Secretary of the Party Committee of CDB; he’s also the alternate member of 16th and 17th Central Committee of China Communist Party. Chen Yuan was invited to serve as the guest professor of Tsinghua SEM in June 2005; in 2008, Chen Yuan was invited to serve on the Advisory Board of Tsinghua SEM; and in November, 2008, Tsinghua University has signed cooperative agreement with China Development Bank to establish “Tsinghua University-China Development Bank Planning Research Institution” and Chen Yuan serves as the director of the research center.
