Tsinghua SEM has established its Research Center for Health Care Management on December 16, 2008. The Center for Health Care Management aims at promoting the research on China's health care policies and management. The Center will mainly focus on research on policies and management of health Care in China and promoting the development of the discipline of hospital management; it will also provide policy proposals and advice for the government hospitals and other organizations meanwhile serving as a platform for theoretical research and practice in the field of health care and promoting the development of the health care industry; fostering professionals of health care industry and contributing to the international communications in this area.

The Center is sponsored by Jiangsu Chia-tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited. The launch ceremony for the Center was held at Weilun Building of Tsinghua SEM on December 16. Deputy Director-general of Tsinghua University Education Foundation Yang Jiaqing, Dean of Tsinghua SEM Qian Yingyi and Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM Zhu Yan, Director of Tsinghua SEM EDP Center Xue Lei and President of Jiangsu Chia-tai Tianqing Pharmaceutical Corporation Sun Jian attended the signing ceremony.

"The Center will expand the research fields that Tsinghua SEM faculty engage in; more importantly, it will bring together relevant specialists and scholars across the globe to conduct in-depth research on the policies and management of health care in China. The center will also commit to cultivating high-level managers for key hospitals in the country thus contributing to the improvement of the management of health care institutions in China." said Dean Qian Yingyi.

Xue Lei, who’s currently Director of Tsinghua SEM EDP Center was named Director of the Center, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM Zhu Yan was named Executive Vice Director of the Center. Zhou Shenglai, renowned specialist in hospital management serves as specialist director of the Center. Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Qian Yingyi serves as Chairman of the Council of the Center.
