On October 18, a forum with the theme of “China in the Global Financial Crisis” was held at Shunde Building of Tsinghua SEM. The forum brought together a number of experts from government departments and relevent academic and business community. Participants discussed topics concerning trends of current global financial crisis and corresponding solutions for China. The day was also this year's Alumni Day of Tsinghua SEM; more than 300 SEM alumni attended the forum. Professor Chen Zhangwu, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM addressed the forum on behalf of the School.
Saturday’s event was co-organized by Tsinghua University Center for China in the World Economy and Tsinghua SEM Alumni Office as the fourth forum initiated by the Center for China in the World Economy to mark the 30th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up policy. Professor Li Daokui, Chair of Department of Finance and Director of Center for China in the World Economy presided at the forum.
The forum comprised three parts. The first part focused on the trend of the current global financial crisis; the second part saw the discussion on countermeasures China should take facing the impact brought by the crisis, referring to the experience the country has learned from its 30 years of reform and opening-up. The third part was the discussion on current trend of the macro-economic situation, where the Center for China in the World Economy released its latest academic report on current macro-economic situation.
