The 2008 EFMD Annual Conference -European Foundation for Management Development was held at BI Norwegian School of Management, Oslo, Norway during June 8-10. Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM and Professor Qian Xiaojun, Assistant Dean of Tsinghua SEM attended the conference where they received EQUIS accreditation certificate conferred by Eric Cornuel, the Director General & CEO of EFMD and Julio Urgel, Director of EFMD Quality Services and EQUIS.

Tsinghua SEM was awarded accreditation from the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) at the end of February, 2008. This makes Tsinghua SEM the first university business school in Chinese mainland to be accredited by EQUIS. In 2007, Tsinghua SEM has been awarded accreditation by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) for its business and accounting programs. The School's success in EQUIS accreditation has made Tsinghua become the only business school in Chinese mainland double-accredited by both AACSB and EQUIS, two of the most prestigious international accreditations of management education.

In his congratulation letter on Tsinghua SEM’s achievement in EQUIS accreditation, Eric Cornuel said, "In gaining accreditation Tsinghua University has shown that it is without question one of the finest institutions in China and having EQUIS will help to raise its profile even further on the international stage. For schools looking at partners and collaboration, EQUIS is often the major international benchmark and I am sure this accreditation will be noticed widely across the management education community."
