91 Olympic volunteers from Tsinghua SEM are offering their sincere services at various positions as Beijing is hosting the world with pride. On August 13, Dean Qian Yingyi and Associate Dean Zhu Yan visited SEM volunteers working at the National Aquatics Center (the Water Cube), International Broadcasting Corporation, Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and the Olympic Media Village.
The first stop was the Water Cube. 33 volunteers from Tsinghua SEM were offering their service at the registration office. Due to the traffic control, Dean Qian Yingyi and Associate Dean Zhu Yan walked nearly one km to reach the registration office of the Water Cube from Beichen Bridge. SEM alumna Dong Zhi, who’s in charge of the volunteer service at the Water Cube, introduced the volunteer work at the Water Cube, speaking highly of SEM volunteer’s performance. During the visit, China won women's gymnastics team Olympic gold. Dean Qian Yingyi and SEM student volunteers watched the award ceremony together.

At the International Broadcasting Corporation, accompanied by Nan Bin from Tsinghua University CPC Committee and SEM volunteers, Dean Qian Yingyi and Associate Dean Zhu Yan visited IBC facilities and communicated with SEM volunteers there.

After that, Dean Qian Yingyi and Associate Dean Zhu Yan visited BOCOG, where 21 graduates from Tsinghua SEM majoring in finance and accounting have been on intern for over one year at the Finance Department of BOCOG. Director of the Finance Department of BOCOG Li Yingjin spoke highly of the SEM volunteers’ working performance.

The last stop was Olympic Media Village, where 5 freshmen of Tsinghua SEM render their volunteer service with major responsibility focusing on house cleaning. Students said they were benefited a lot from the professional training with high-star hotel service standards.

The selection for Olympic volunteers at Tsinghua SEM kicked off in July, 2007. A total of 145 students were selected out to work for Beijing Olympic Games. 91 volunteers are providing their services now. The city volunteers and volunteers working for the Paralympic Games will begin their services soon.
