On Mar. 13th, 2008, an international MBA student-faculty meeting was held at the Room 336, Weilun Building of Tsinghua SEM. The meeting aimed to enhance the communication between faculties and students from the international MBA program.

MAO Donghui, the Executive Director of MBA Programs, attended the meeting. Many professors were present as well, such as GAO Xudong, YANG Baiyin, QIAN Xiaojun, David ROBB, LI Mingzhi, JIANG Peng, and WANG Guiqin etc. There are also some other teachers from the MBA programs who attended the meeting, such as Kris XIE Qihong, the Assistant Director of International MBA Program, LI Siqi and WANG Lynn. Many international MBA student from class of 2009 also participated actively in this meeting.

First of all, the Executive Director MAO Donghui delivered a speech to all the participants. Then the face-to-face discussions were carried out between professors and students. Lots of students firstly talked about the excellent aspects of their programs, then asked many questions about the problems which puzzled them in their everyday study and brought forward some suggestions for the leaders of the MBA programs. Some of the problems were about the lack of “Chinese case materials”, “communication experience”, “the heavy English textbook”, and about “how to manage time for candidates” and so on.

After sincerely listening to the questions put forward by students, the present professors gave their specific solution and advice to the specific problems. For instance, one of the students asked, “Could you please introduce some effective way to manage time for candidates?” Then Prof. Yang replied, “Time management is always a topic and you need to make a long-term schedule as well as a short-term schedule. Do not put things to the last minute.” And Prof. Gao’s suggestion was “Just focus on the most important thing. Every MIT student is an expert in a certain track.”

Besides, professors also encouraged students to cherish every resource of Tsinghua, and took some management courses according to their own background and interest. Through contact can communication between teachers during the study, the MBA students could improve their efficiency a lot. All faculties in the meeting expressed their welcome to students’ suggestions and promised to improve the level of MBA teaching administration, in order to do better services for students.

MBA Student-Faculty Meeting is a traditional program of Tsinghua’s MBA programs. This is the first year when international MBA Student-Faculty Meeting was held separately and the working language of the meeting was English.

Finally this meeting, which ended successfully, built a bridge for a better communication between MBA teachers and students, establishing a good foundation for the improvement of MBA’s teaching, administration and students’ comprehensive quality.
