The first class of Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA dual degree program has successfully accomplished theirShanghaimodule curriculum during the national day vacation, with one week full schedule of academic, business, and cultural activities.
The Shanghai Mobile Campus provides students with three courses--marketing, macroeconomics and corporate finance, delivered by professors from Tsinghua SEM and INSEAD. Professor Qian Yinyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM, delivered the course of macroeconomics, and Professor Chen Chao taught the course of corporate finance.
On October 3, the program invited Director of Shanghai Municipal Office of Finance Service Fang Xinghai, who's also a SEM alumnus, to deliver a lecture on Chinese financial market andShanghai's strategy of becoming a world financial center. On October 5, participants visited the Fuji Group. As a private enterprise, the Fuji Group expanded quickly as a small food service company to have become the largest food and beverage company providing room service inChina. Participants visitedFuji's manufacturing factories and supermarkets and had dialogues with the Group's managing director Wei Dong.
Participants also took part in a variety of cultural activities. Participants passed the evening of the National Day cruising theHuangpuRiveraboard the Captain One, feasting their eyes on the beauty of the city's night scene. The International students were surprised at the fast development ofShanghai, a sparkling pearl ofEast China. On October 3, participants attended a gala "The evening of Tsinghua", which brought together the Tsinghua-INSEAD participants, Tsinghua EMBA alumni fromShanghai,JiangsuandZhejiangand prospective EMBA participants. Participants say the event helped to build closer ties between domestic and international students, and promoted the communications and interactions between the two EMBA programs in Chinese and in English.
TheShanghaistudy trip, attended by more than 40 participants, was the first mobile campus activity of the Tsinghua-INDEAD EMBA program. The next module will take the EMBA participants toSingapore.
