OnAugust 23, 2007, a welcome session for new undergraduates was held at the international hall ofWeilunBuilding,Tsinghua SEM. 226 new students attended the ceremony as they are about to begin their new journey at the School..

The session was attended by Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Professor Yang Bin, Associate Dean of the School, Professor Zhu Hengyuan, Associate Dean of the School, and Zhang Jianmin, Deputy Director of Financial Stability Bureau of the People's Bank of China, who's also SEM alumni. The session was hosted by Professor Qian Xiaojun, Assistant Dean of the School. Professor Qian Yingyi, Professor Yang Bin and Mr. Zhang Jianhua addressed the conference.

Later in the day, the students attended the opening ceremony for the new undergraduates hosted by the University together with more than 3000 Tsinghua freshmen from other departments.
