Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management(Tsinghua SEM) and INSEAD have launched the Tsinghua - INSEAD Dual Degree EMBA Program (TIEMBA) onJune 8, 2007. It’s the first program of its kind in China combining international business education with a focus onAsia.
The opening ceremony was attended by Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM, Liao Li, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM in charge of EMBA program, Qian Xiaojun, Assistant Dean of Tsinghua SEM and Charles Galunic, Dean of the INSEAD Executive MBA program.

In his welcome address, Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM briefed participants on the history ofTsinghuaUniversityand Tsinghua SEM, as well as the achievements the School has made in recent years. Tsinghua SEM has awarded accreditation by AACSB international in April and become the first and only business school in Chinese mainland for having met the widely recognized high standards of achievement in management education and research for a business school. Dean Qian said the successful launch of Tsinghua-INSEAD Dual Degree EMBA Program---such a ground-breaking program inChina's EMBA education, is another milestone event for Tsinghua SEM.
He said the launch of Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA Program is the best testimony to a promising partnership between the two leading business schools, from which students could benefit from Tsinghua local knowledge and INSEAD’s global expertise and students could share the rich alumni resources of the two leading business schools.

The first intake of the Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA Program is a group of 43 experienced executives representing 17 different nationalities, of whom 27% are women. Aged 30-39, the participants have 12 years business experience on average. Most of them had been employed by world-renowned multinational companies such as Royal Bank ofScotland, France Telecom, Hp, Nokia, Siemens, Oracle, Unilevel, Emerson, Accor, SAP.
The first module of the 18-months Tsinghua-INSEAD program runs from 8 to 13 June and focuses on organizational dynamics, managing teams and managing change.

The Tsinghua-INSEAD Dual Degree Executive MBA Program was initiated in 2006. It targets highly motivated, internationally-minded managers with substantial business experience. Divided into thirteen periods of four to six days, the program runs over 18 months on the campuses ofTsinghuaUniversityinBeijingand INSEAD inSingapore, from June 2007 to December 2008. One of the modules will also be held at INSEAD’sEuropecampus inFontainebleaunearParis. Graduation of the program will take place in January 2009.
The program is taught jointly by the two schools’ faculties and focuses on developing the participants’ leadership skills, building their global mindsets and honing their managerial experience. It combines the analytical rigour of an MBA with the managerial relevance of executive education.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded two prestigious degrees: an EMBA degree byTsinghuaUniversityand an MBA for Executives degree by INSEAD. Graduates become alumni of the two schools.
