Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management has assumed his duties as President of Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS) onJuly 5, 2007. Prior to this, Professor Qian was Vice President and President-Elect of AAPBS. The association’s former president, Mr. K.C. Chan, who is also former Dean of Hong Kong University of Science andTechnologyBusinessSchool, resigned the post as he was appointed by the State Council as Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury of Hong Kong SAR government on June 23.
AAPBS is a regional and non-profit association initiated by 11 council member management schools across the Asia-Pacific region in 2004. Its aim is to provide leadership and representation in order to advance the quality of business and management education in the Asia-Pacific Region. So far, the association consists of 81 management schools and 17 council member schools, including Tsinghua SEM. So far, the association has held two annual conferences. Its third annual conference will take place at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in November, 2007.
