Senior Managing Director of the Blackstone Group and Chairman of Blackstone GreaterChinaAntonyLeung has delivered a speech entitled "the Developments of Private Equity in World" at Tsinghua SEM onJuly 13, 2007. The speech has attracted more than 200 faculty members and students at the School.

Professor Liao Li, Associate Dean of Tsinghua SEM presided over the activity; Professor Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM introduced Leung's professional experience before the speech.

Antony Leung assumed his duties as a Senior Managing Director of The Blackstone Group, and Chairman of Blackstone Greater China in January, 2007. Within less than four months since his inauguration, Leung helped to promoteChina's State Foreign Exchange Investment Company, which has yet to be fully established, to agree to invest three billion U.S. dollars in theU.S.private equity firm the Blackstone Group.

Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Leung was the Financial Secretary ofHong Kongfrom 2001 to 2003. In that position, he was responsible forHong Kong’s fiscal, monetary, and economic policies and affairs. From 1997 to 2001, he was a non-official member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong which approves all important policy matters for the territory.

Prior to his appointment asHong Kong’s Financial Secretary, Mr. Leung had 28 years of financial services experience. He was the Chairman of Asia for JP Morgan Chase based inHong Kong. Before that he worked for Citigroup inHong Kong,Singapore,ManilaandNew Yorkin various positions including Country Corporate Officer forChinaandHong Kong, Regional Treasurer, Division Head of Investment Banking forNorth Asia, South West Asia and Head of Private Banking forAsia.

Mr. Leung graduated from theUniversityofHong Kongwith honor in 1973, and attendedHarvardBusinessSchool’s Program for Management Development and Advanced Management Program. For his public service inHong Kong, he was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star and an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of theBritish Empire. He was conferred an honorary Doctor of Law by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is currently independent director of the Industrial and Commercial Bank ofChina, and chairman of Heifer International inHong Kong.
