Prof. Qian Yingyi, Dean of Tsinghua SEM visited members of the Advisory Board of Tsinghua SEM in the United States during Dec.11-15. Pan Qingzhong, Director of the Resource Development Office, Tsinghua SEM, accompanied the Dean during the trip.
Prof. Qian held talks with Edward C. Johnson 3d, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Fidelity Investments, Lloyd Blankfein, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc., Steven A. Denning, Chairman of General Atlantic, LLC.. Prof. Qian briefed them the latest development of the Tsinghua SEM, noting particularly the importance of faculty development and the use of English in teaching.
The members of the Advisory Board raised pertinent suggestions and high hopes to Tsinghua SEM's development.
When talking about the research affairs of the school, Edward C. Johnson 3d, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Fidelity Investments, encouraged teachers and students to attach importance to innovation in their research work, and suggested the school pay more efforts on research fields of entrepreneurship and capital management in financial areas.
Lloyd Blankfein, Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. put forward advice on school's faulty development. He suggested experts and management staff members of Goldman Sachs Group open series of lectures at Tsinghua SEM, while professors at the school may exchange with world-leading business schools under the support of Goldman Sachs Group.
Steven A. Denning, Chairman of General Atlantic, LLC. said he appreciated the student exchange program between Tsinghua SEM and Stanford Business School under the support of General Atlantic. And faculty exchange program may be conducted, as he suggested, between the two business schools as well. Denning also talked about the internationalization of Tsinghua SEM, saying General Atlantic will continue its support in accelerating the internationalization process of Tsinghua SEM.
Prof. Qian expressed thanks for the suggestions of the Advisory Board, saying that the close concern and full support given by the Advisory Board contributed tremendously to the development of Tsinghua SEM. He hoped the Advisory Board members would continue their assistance to the school's further development.
