Research output of Tsinghua-Mckinsey study on China's high-tech firms released

Tsinghua SEM and Mckiney&Company released its first-stage output of their joint study onChina's high-tech firms on December,1. Ingo Beyer von Morgenstern, the Shanghai-based McKinsey director who oversees the firm's technology practice in Asia, Stefan Albrecht, principle of Mickinsey's Beijing office, Professor Ning Xiangdong, executive vice-director of the National Center for Economic Research, Tsinghua SEM, who's in charge of the program, along with other core members of the program attended the media briefing.

Tsinghua-Mckinsey joint program- Study on Key Factors for the Success ofChina's Leading High-tech Firms was launched in November, 2006. The report for the first-stage study gave an in-depth analysis on the current situation and development trend ofChina's high-tech industry, as well as the productivity and the profit margin of the country's high-tech firms, based on its data over more than 50 thousand companies across 11 sub-sectors inChina's high tech industry. Challenges and opportunities for Chinese high-tech firms to go global were also discussed in the report.

The study is currently conducted by theNationalCenterfor Economic Research, Mckiney&Company, and Tsinghua Alumni Association. The whole program is planned to be fully accomplished in June next year.
