From Aug. 21st to 23rd, 2006 International RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Technology Summit, co-organized by the Research Center for Contemporary Management, Tsinghua SEM and Asia Pacific RFID Technology Association，was held in Tsinghua SEM International Auditorium.

Attendants of the summit included: Qingxi Lei, Director of the Center for Technology Market Management and Promotion from the Ministry of Technology, Chunjun Zhao, Director ofthe Tsinghua Contemporary Management and Technology Innovation Philosophy & Social Science Innovation Base, Jian Chen and Yan Zhu, Directors of the Research Center for ContemporaryManagement, Wenhao Zhao, General Secretary of the Asia-Pacific RFID Technology Association,and leader and experts from relevant industrial organizations such as the China Electric Tag Standard Team, China Goods Coding Center, UID China, China logistics and Purchase Association, and the logistics Management Committee of China Transport Enterprise Association. Representatives from IBM , SAP and some other well-known RFID manufacturers also attended this summit.

During the three-day summit, experts in the summit showed manufacturers and users present the latest research products, through which RFID software and hardware manufacturers and vendors got to know the advanced technology information and research development. Close contact between experts and manufacturers and among manufacturers themselves will greatly facilitate the national and international cooperation and exchange among different enterprises.

The summit touched upon the area of RFID technologies and applications, including: tag and reader, communicating interface and frequency , data structure , safety and primacy, applied system integrations, RFID standard, intellectual property right, industry platform, library application, defense –forging and defense-stealing, SCM management, animal identification management, mine management, traffic management, military logistics, sports and entertainment, industry applications, medical treatment applications, post applications, janitor management, etc.

2006 International RFID Technologies Summit gained generous support from governmental entities, enterprises, industrial organizations and news media such as the Ministry of Information Industry, Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Railways, Office for Information Technology and RFID Technology & Application magazine.

According to the organizing committee, International RFID Technology Summit will be held once a year at Tsinghua, which will provide RFID-relevant enterprises and professionals with a platform for academic discussion, product demonstration, information exchange and application promotion and thus promote RFID technologies’ healthy, rapid development in our country.
