The lecture was hosted by QU Qing, Assistant Dean of SEM. During the speech, Mr. Wong discussed various topics with SEM students including the challenges of china banking's integration into the world market and the impact on Hong Kong banking. He talked about the strategic cooperation between HSBC and Bank of Communications, from which he found that the corporate governance, financial product development and technology were the great concerns of their partner. There are several problems in China's banking area. First, China banks should always be client-centered, especially on products and service. Secondly, put more emphasis on employees. Banks should offer them a fair competition environment and enough incentive. Understanding the strategy not only by the management?but also by every employee is crucial to every bank's long-time development.
?BR>When talked the impact on Hong Kong banking, he mentioned two aspects, which were the Hong Kong stock market and Renminbi. With more and more Chinese banks listed in Hong Kong Exchange, they are playing more and more important role in the Hang Seng Index. He also predicted that, with the development of RMB products in Hong Kong, the future of Hong Kong Dollar has several uncertainties. HSBC keeps on thinking its positioning with those different possibilities.
During the Q&A section, Mr. Wong answered questions from the audience on competition, the challenges in cooperation with Bank of Communications, risk management, QDII and etc. After the speech, Mr. Wong visited the research Program for China Rural Financial Development?exhibition wall in Shunde Building accompanied by Mr. Qu Qing.
