The G20 Entrepreneurship Roundtable 2021 is held both online and offline in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province.

The G20 Entrepreneurship Roundtable 2021 was held both online and offline in Foho Hi-tech Zone, Jiangsu Province on October 13 and 14, 2021. With the theme of "Reshape the Paradigm of Entrepreneurship and Employment in the Era of Digital Revolution", the Roundtable is an important meeting for G20 members to explore the ways to promote development of entrepreneurship and startups in the digital era. This year's event is the fifth consecutive one organized by the Entrepreneurship Research Center on G20 Economies of Tsinghua University, with the support of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China.

HAO Bin, Chinese representative of the G20 Employment Working Group and Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, attended the meeting and delivered an opening remark. He pointed out that entrepreneurship was an important way to promote economic and social development, expand employment and improve people's livelihood, so all G20 members attached great importance to entrepreneurship. The G20 Ministerial Meeting on Labor and Employment held in June this year encouraged the Entrepreneurship Research Center on G20 Economies to conduct research on women entrepreneurship in the digital era in the declaration, and this meeting is an important practice to implement the requirements of the Ministerial Declaration.

Carmelo Barbarello, Chair of 2021 G20 Employment Working Group and Diplomatic Advisor of Italy's Labour and Employment Minister delivered a remark in the opening session as well. He said, he was very pleased to see that the three topics of the 2021 G20 Labour and Employment Ministerial Declaration: more, better and equally paid jobs for women, social protection systems in a changing world of work, and working patterns, business organization and production process in the digitalization era, were all included in the Agenda of the G20 Entrepreneurship Roundtable. And he thanked for all the work that Entrepreneurship Research Center on G20 Economies has done during Italy's G20 presidency and looked forward to more of its research work in the future.

GAO Jian, Director of the Entrepreneurship Research Center on G20 Economies and Professor of Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management, delivered keynote speeches, together with Uma Rani Amara, Senior Economist of the International Labor Organization (ILO). Professor GAO summarized the policies of G20 members to support digital entrepreneurship from six aspects in his speech, including government transformation, education and training, financial support, market support, technology empowerment and ecosystem construction. He suggested that G20 members make efforts to build digital governments, improve citizens' digital skill, promote the fintech, cultivate benchmark enterprises for digital entrepreneurship and digital transformation and establish the ecosystem with all stakeholders to get involved in. Uma Rani Amara shared the ILO's World Employment and Social Outlook: Trends 2021 report on the role of digital platforms in changing the world employment landscape. The exponential growth in the size of the global platform economy has demonstrated a huge demand for digital platforms. At the same time, the digital gap continues to grow, and there is a need for continuous improvement and refinement in data access and fair competition, dispute resolution mechanisms, intellectual property protection and digital infrastructure.

There were in-depth exchanges and discussions on six topics, including promotion of entrepreneurship and startups (SMEs) in digital era, women entrepreneurship in the digital economies, adapting the social security to the digital economy, sustainable entrepreneurship in the digital era, innovative entrepreneurship in the digital era and incubation with global and local network in the digital era. More than 150 people online and offline participated in the roundtable, and the representatives of government officials, experts and scholars from 17 members of G20 shared their experiences and insights. And Italy government, the 2021 G20 Presidency, showed their full support to the event, as the chair of the G20 Employment Working Group, the chair of G20 Digital Economy Task Force of Italy, and the Women20 Sherpa joined the event and share the outcome of this year's G20 related works. Representatives from international organizations such as ILO, OECD, UNESCO, UN Women, ISSA and WEF attended the event and made remarks, and representatives of entrepreneurs, startups, platform companies, investment institutions and entrepreneurial service institutions join the event as well.
