FENG Juan, Hon Hai Chair Professor at the Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management (Tsinghua SEM) and deputy head of the Department of Management Science and Engineering, was elected vice president of Region 3 (Asia, Pacific) of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) for a three-year term beginning September 1, 2022. FENG is jointly appointed as a professor at Tsinghua SEM and the Institute of Innovation Management of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School (Tsinghua SIGS). She also serves as the director of the Research Center for Digital Economy (Greater Bay Area) under Shenzhen Research Institute of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University.
Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Atlanta, United States, AIS is world’s foremost academic professional organization in the field of Information Systems. It has more than 4,000 global members from more than 90 countries and regions. It is known for its influence of in management information system (MIS) in the academia worldwide. As early as 1997, AIS cooperated with other academic groups related to the discipline, such as the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) and International Information International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). It launched the MIS-standard core curriculum program created by academic groups in the MIS discipline itself, which has been adopted and used by MIS majors in major universities around the world.
FENG has long focused on the business and policy challenges brought by new technology, as well as changes brought by the information technology (IT) to the information environment. She has published in top academic journals and conferences, such as Information Systems Research, Management Science, Marketing Science, Production and Operations Management, and Information Journal on Computing.
FENG also served as senior editor for top international journals such as Information Systems Research, Production and Operations Management and E-commerce Research and Applications.
FENG's election as AIS VP for the Asia-Pacific region recognizes her leading academic position in the field of Information Systems, and also enhances the international influence of Tsinghua University in the field of Information Systems and digital economy. It also provides strong support to the leading position of the Shenzhen Research Institute of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University in the direction of the digital economy in the Greater Bay Area.
