Elsevier released its Highly Cited Chinese Researchers List for 2022 on March 28, 2023. The list includes nine professors from the School of Economics and Management at Tsinghua University (Tsinghua SEM).
BAI Chong-En, a Mansfield Freeman Chair Professor, professor at the Department of Economics at Tsinghua SEM and dean of Tsinghua SEM, was selected in the Applied Economics category. Associate Professor Steven White at the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy was selected for the Business Management category. Lenovo Chair Professor, CHEN Jian, a professor at the Department of Management Science and Engineering and Apple Chair Professor; and, CHEN Jin, a professor at the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy, were selected for the Management Sciences and Engineering category. CHEN Yubo, the Coca-Cola Chair Professor and professor at the Department of Marketing; LI Ning, the Flextronics Chair Professor and a professor at the Department of Leadership and Organization Management; and Associate Professor LI Xibao at the Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy were included in the Business Management category. Additionally, QIAN Yingyi, Distinguished Professor of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at Tsinghua University and a professor at the Economics Department, and SU Liangjun, C.V. Starr Chair Professor and a professor at the Economics Department, were included in the Theoretical Economics category.

The Highly Cited Chinese Researchers ranking by Elsevier utilizes Scopus, a citation and index database developed by the world-leading information analysis company, as its statistical source. The ranking also adopts a method developed by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy to provide a comprehensive analysis and identification of Chinese scholars at different stages of their research careers from multiple dimensions, and systematically showcases their research achievements. This ranking list has garnered significant attention from both domestic and international media and scholars. Elsevier partnered with Shanghai Ranking Consultancy to publish the list for a ninth time since 2015. The 2022 list features 5,216 researchers from 504 universities, enterprises, and research institutions across 10 disciplines and 84 first-level disciplines of the Ministry of Education in China.
